Just an FYI, but Scott Janousek will be giving a talk: Evolution of Flash on Devices in a couple weeks at FlashBelt 2010.

This yearly Flash conference is the premier conference for Mid-West during this time frame, and there are lot of great speakers and content to be found there.

Here is what Scott is presenting:

Flash Evolution on Devices
Did you know that by 2010, 19 out of 20 device manufacturers (i.e. OEMs), worldwide, will have announced support for Flash? Did you know there are over 50 companies working with Adobe as part of the Open Screen Project initiative? Did you know Adobe and its partners are paving the way for Flash experiences on a multitude of consumer electronic devices such as TVs, set top boxes, SmartPhone ,… and yes, even embedded systems … like cars!

The session will cover how the long road the Flash Platform has evolved from on devices, starting with its humble “PocketPC” beginnings to today, where Flash is supported on millions of devices, worldwide, in all shapes, form factors, and screen sizes! The days of focusing solely on Flash experiences contained inside just the desktop, are long over, my friends.

Join Scott Janousek, a veteran in the Mobile and Device space with Flash, as he shares some of his stories and experiences from the “trenches”. Scott will speak about his four year journey as both an early adopter with Flash Lite, as well his most recent experiences with Flash 10.1 on various devices platforms.

Scott will cover real world device projects that leverage Flash Lite, Flash 10.x, and even some recent Flash-based experiences made for the Android, including some valuable tips, tricks, and shared insights into the potentials of Flash on devices in the future.

Scott is hoping to blog from the event, so keep an eye on his blog. Also for those interested, there still might be tickets left for this event. Register now.

Scott Janousek, Technical Director of Hooken Mobile slated to speak at Adobe MAX 2010!

Adobe MAX 2010.png

It’s been a year since Hooken Mobile has attended Adobe MAX, and this year is going to be a bit different. Last year we took a bit of a hiatus after speaking in 2008 and decide to attend 2009 as attendee status and absorb all the goodness the conference had to offer.

This year, we’re back speaking. Scott Janousek, Founder and Technical Director here at Hooken will be speaking at Adobe MAX 2010 on Adobe tooling (i.e. Adobe CS5), and how to leverage it to create and test mobile and device content across various device form factors (e.g. Android based mobile devices such as the Nexus One).

We’re both honored and excited to have been invited back to Adobe MAX this year and hope to see many of our readers there.

For those that cannot attend, we’ll also be posting live blog posts from the event. Stay tuned around early October for us to resume talk about the Adobe MAX conference and what, specifically, we’ll be covering, and when.

For now, I’d recommend checking out the site and getting pre-registered sooner rather than later if you are interested in attending. The conference is in Los Angeles again this year, from October 23-27. Don’t miss it!

Last week on Thursday, the Boston Adobe Mobile and Devices User Group (BAMaDUG) held a relatively small get together at the Newton office of Adobe.

In attendance was our very own Technical Director, Scott Janousek as a representative for Hooken Mobile.

Also present were: Alessandro Pace (Biskero/Verisign), James Talbot (Adobe), Max Antinori (Max Media Corp), Chris MacDonald (EMC), Steve Albanese (Tutorials Depot), and Rob Toole (Fidelity Investments).

In addition to numerous conversations about the mobile space and Flash Lite, there was always the customary swag giveaway which Adobe graciously offered up last minute … including a full copy of Adobe Creative Suite 3 (congrats to Chris for winning).

Also, several copies of the Friends of Ed: Foundation Flash Application for Mobile Devices book were distributed (Coauthor: Scott Janousek (Hooken Mobile)).

It was great catching up on local community activity, and Hooken Mobile will not doubt be at the next physical meeting.
